Beijing, November 21 /Xinhua/ — Uzbek statesman and scientist Ibrokhim Abdurakhmanov has been awarded the title of Foreign Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), according to information posted on the CAS official website.
According to the list released Friday by the Russian Academy of Sciences, this honorary title was awarded not only to I. Abdurakhmanov, but also to 26 other scientists from countries such as France, Sweden, the United States, and Great Britain.
According to available information, I. Abdurakhmanov (born in 1975) is a doctor of biological sciences, professor, and academician. He conducted research in the fields of molecular genetics and molecular biotechnology. He currently serves as the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Meanwhile, the KAS also published a list of 73 newly elected academicians. This new addition brings the number of KAS academicians to 908, and the number of foreign academicians to 173.
