Tashkent, November 21 (Xinhua) — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called on Friday during the second strategic dialogue between the Chinese and Uzbek foreign ministers with his Uzbek counterpart Bakhtiyor Saidov to make bilateral relations a new model of good-neighborliness, solidarity, and mutual trust between peoples.
Wang Yi, also a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, stated that under the leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, relations between China and Uzbekistan are rapidly developing, bringing tangible benefits to the peoples of both countries. He emphasized that the two sides should fully utilize the mechanism of strategic dialogue to implement the important consensus reached by the two leaders, determine the overall direction of bilateral relations, and coordinate cooperation in all areas.
Noting the rich historical and cultural heritage of both countries, Wang Yi stated that the development and revival of China and Uzbekistan are based on strong internal potential, and the friendship between the two peoples is deeply rooted. China consistently views Uzbekistan as a priority in its diplomacy toward neighboring countries and as an important partner within the broader global diplomatic agenda. China, he added, supports Uzbekistan in choosing a development path suited to its national conditions and in successfully implementing the "New Uzbekistan" strategy.
The Chinese Foreign Minister noted that the speedy realization of China's complete reunification is the common aspiration of all Chinese people at home and abroad, and expressed gratitude to Uzbekistan for its firm commitment to the one-China principle.
He emphasized that regardless of changes in the international and regional situation, China will continue to strengthen unity and cooperation with Uzbekistan, moving towards the noble goal of building a community of shared future.
According to Wang Yi, China and Uzbekistan should follow the consensus reached by the two heads of state, remain committed to improving the well-being of their peoples, accelerate the alignment of development strategies, strengthen mutual support, and open up a new future for bilateral relations as an all-round comprehensive strategic partnership in the new era.
The Chinese diplomat stated that the country has already become Uzbekistan's largest trading partner and an important source of investment, and expressed confidence that after Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization, bilateral trade and economic cooperation will develop even more dynamically.
Wang Yi noted that China is ready to work with Uzbekistan to implement such a landmark project as the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, promote a diversified architecture of connectivity, expand cooperation in areas such as environmentally friendly mining, new energy sources, and high technology, and develop interaction in areas such as education, culture, and tourism, in order to further strengthen the deep friendship between the peoples of the two countries.
He emphasized that China highly appreciates Uzbekistan's outstanding achievements in poverty reduction and is ready to continue sharing experiences in poverty reduction and rural development through the Subcommittee on Poverty Reduction of the China-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Committee and the Poverty Alleviation Cooperation Center within the China-Central Asia format.
The Chinese Foreign Minister called for the effective use of the bilateral cooperation mechanism in the areas of law enforcement and security, intensifying joint efforts to combat the "three evil forces" (terrorism, extremism, separatism) and transnational organized crime, and strengthening cooperation in countering external interference.
The Chinese diplomat also urged the two sides to strengthen coordination and cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the China-Central Asia cooperation mechanism to promote a more equitable and rational global governance system.
B. Saidov, for his part, stated that under Xi Jinping's wise leadership, China has achieved remarkable development successes, and the Chinese people have demonstrated diligence, creativity, and perseverance in pursuing their aspirations. He noted that amid a complex and volatile international situation, China's firm stance, particularly its major initiatives aimed at maintaining peace and development, has become an important force for ensuring stability and progress in human society.
Emphasizing that a true friend is like a brother, B. Saidov noted that China is Uzbekistan's most valuable strategic partner, and the country intends to always stand shoulder to shoulder with it. According to the diplomat, both countries share a common worldview, adhere to a people-centered approach, and are deepening reforms. He added that the mechanism for strategic dialogue between the foreign ministers of China and Uzbekistan, established by decision of the two leaders, fully reflects the high level of bilateral relations—an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership in the new era.
Uzbekistan, B. Saidov continued, expresses gratitude to China for its significant support in improving the lives of its people and reducing poverty. Uzbekistan intends to actively adopt China's successful experience in public administration, strengthen high-level exchanges, expand bilateral trade, deepen cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, promote the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, and expand cooperation in emerging areas, including green development and high technology, while jointly combating the "three evil forces."
Uzbekistan firmly adheres to the one-China principle, opposes separatist activities aimed at achieving "Taiwan independence" and interference by external forces, and supports China in achieving national reunification, he stressed.
The Uzbek Foreign Minister noted that the Global Governance Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping meets the demands of the times and helps address the lack of trust and consensus in the international community. He added that Uzbekistan is prepared to further strengthen interaction and cooperation with China on international and regional issues, as well as enhance coordination within the China-Central Asia cooperation mechanism and the SCO.
B. Saidov also reported that Uzbekistan is accelerating internal procedures with the goal of joining the International Mediation Organization by the end of the year and is ready to participate in the Global Organization for Cooperation in the Field of Artificial Intelligence, becoming one of its founders. –0–
