BEIJING, November 21 (Xinhua) — The Forum on the Modernization of the Global South was held in Beijing on Friday.
Li Shulei, a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended the event and delivered a speech.
Chinese and foreign guests at the forum emphasized that achieving modernization is the common aspiration of countries in the Global South, and expressed the view that China, through its 15th Five-Year Development Plan, will certainly provide even more new opportunities for the development of all countries, including those in the Global South.
It was noted that the countries of the Global South should move forward together with a more open and inclusive approach, hold high the banner of a community with a shared future for humanity, implement genuine multilateralism, promote inter-civilizational exchanges and mutual learning, and jointly write a new chapter in the history of modernization in the Global South.
Those present at the forum also called for strengthening international academic exchanges and cooperation, conducting in-depth research on significant theoretical, historical, and current issues in the process of modernization of the Global South, and, in fact, forming a system of knowledge on modernization that originates from the Global South and serves its interests. –0–
