BEIJING, November 19 (Xinhua) — The Russian pavilion and the Great Tea Road pavilion have been enjoying great popularity and attracting many visitors at the 17th Taiwan Straits International Tea Industry Fair held in Wuyishan City, east China's Fujian Province, in recent days, according to chinanews.com.cn.

As a reminder, more than 850 companies, including 173 from Taiwan, are participating in this fair, which runs from November 16 to 20. It features 2,300 booths, and the total exhibition space is 48,000 square meters.

The organizers of the aforementioned fair, for the first time, deepened trade cooperation with cities located along the Great Tea Road – Kazan, St. Petersburg, and Kyakhta – by specifically inviting Russian tea traders to participate in the fair, thereby intending to create a dual platform of “tea trade and cultural mutual learning.”

The Great Tea Road, which emerged in the 17th century, began in the Wuyi Mountains and reached St. Petersburg, crossing China, Mongolia, and Russia. This approximately 14,000-kilometer route, primarily for tea, became an important economic and cultural link between Asia and Europe, following in the footsteps of the ancient Silk Road.

Qiao Xiangpeng, Executive Chairman of the Russian-Chinese Cultural Exchange Association, who is participating in this fair for the third time, noted that he sees it as his responsibility to use tea as a means to build a bridge of friendship between China and other countries.

Qiao Xiangpeng said he intends to tell the world the history of tea production in the Wuyi Mountains to further promote Chinese tea culture.

As the starting point of the Great Tea Road, Fujian Province has in recent years utilized its tea resources to establish tea culture tourist villages and organized a series of events abroad to showcase the unique appeal of Fujian tea.

At the Wuyi Fair, a "Starting Point of the Great Tea Road" exhibition area was created, displaying key historical materials and material evidence to reveal the history of this route and demonstrate the historical status and practical value of the Wuyi area as the starting point of the Great Tea Road.

According to Qiao Xiangpeng, Fujian tea is an important vehicle for exchange and mutual learning between Eastern and Western civilizations. "We will continue to use the Great Tea Road as a foundation for the effective dissemination of Chinese tea culture, as well as to better communicate the stories of Fujian and even China to the outside world, thereby promoting mutual understanding between peoples of different countries," he concluded.
