BEIJING, November 19 (Xinhua) — The international community must remain highly vigilant and resolutely suppress any attempts to revive militarism, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said at a regular press conference on Wednesday when asked to comment on Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's recent outrageous remarks regarding Taiwan.
Analysts note that Sanae Takaichi is the first Japanese prime minister to clearly state that a "Taiwan emergency" could be a "critical moment between life and death" for Japan, allowing the country to invoke its right to collective self-defense to intervene militarily in the Taiwan Strait.
