XI'AN, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) — Since the launch of China-Europe freight train services, the total number of freight trains running on the relevant routes has reached nearly 120,000.
This was announced by the China State Railway Corporation (CSR) on the sidelines of the 2nd China-Europe Freight Train Services International Cooperation Forum, which opened on Tuesday in Xi'an, the capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi Province. China-Europe freight trains carried a total of approximately 12 million standard container units (TEUs).
Let us recall that in March 2011, the first train on the China-Europe international rail freight route departed from Tuanjiecun Station in Chongqing, Southwest China, to Duisburg, Germany.
The 2nd China-Europe Freight Train Services Forum for International Cooperation, themed "Connecting Asia and Europe for a Shared Future", aims to achieve broader consensus on international cooperation through dialogue and exchange of views, ensure the safe, stable and smooth operation of China-Europe railway freight routes, and promote high-quality development in the joint implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative.
This forum is a key international cooperation platform designed to promote the high-quality development of China-Europe freight train services. The first such forum was held on September 15, 2023, in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, East China. -0-
