UNITED NATIONS, November 18 (Xinhua) — Chinese Judge Zhang Lingling was elected to the United Nations Appeals Tribunal (UNAT) during the UN General Assembly (GA) session on Monday.

In a post on social media, X, China's Permanent Representative to the UN, Fu Cong, wrote: "I sincerely thank all friends for their strong support for Judge Zhang Lingling's successful election to UNAT."

On Monday, the UN General Assembly held a session where the candidacies for judges of the UNAT and the UN Dispute Tribunal were voted on. Zhang Lingling's seven-year term will begin on July 1, 2026.

The Chinese judge was born in 1981. She currently serves as a senior judge of the Supreme People's Court of China. –0–
