WASHINGTON, November 18 (Xinhua) — US President Donald Trump said on Monday he plans to sell F-35s fighter jets to Saudi Arabia, a day ahead of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's visit to the White House.
"We will sell F-35s," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.
"They were a great ally," the American leader said of Saudi Arabia.
Israel is currently the only country in the Middle East to operate F-35 fighter jets, which reportedly cost $100 million each and are among the most advanced fighter jets in the world.
CNN reported that the US Congress may block export licenses for F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia, although such a decision would be strange. –0–
