Beijing, November 18 (Xinhua) — From November 14 to 15, the international conference "Theoretical and Applied Aspects of Teaching Russian Language and Literature in China" was held at the Moscow State University-PTI (Lomonosov Moscow State University and Beijing Institute of Technology) in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, southern China, according to the university's official website.

The event brought together experts and scholars from 19 educational institutions and research organizations in China and Russia. Participants engaged in an in-depth discussion of the development of localized Russian language curricula and the transformation of digital Russian language teaching in the context of the deep integration of the knowledge economy and digital technologies. This discussion aimed to promote the high-quality development of Russian language teaching and research in China, as well as identify new models and approaches for Russian language teaching in the new era.

Liu Hong, Chair of the Russian Language Teaching Commission of the Chinese Ministry of Education and Party Chairman of Liaoning Normal University, emphasized the importance of joint coordination between foreign languages and artificial intelligence in the era of digital intelligence. She expressed hope that this conference will become an important platform for exchanging ideas and reaching consensus among Russian language specialists.

Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Director of the A. M. Gorky Institute of World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vadim Polonsky, in an online format, praised the contribution of Chinese scholars to the study of Russian language and literature abroad, noting that the teaching of Russian and research on it in China are of great strategic importance for the development of Russian-Chinese relations.

The conference also included subforums on topics such as "Russian Literature," "Russian as a Foreign Language," "Methodology for Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language," and "Art as a Common Language of Intercultural Communication." These subforums not only created a platform for high-level dialogue between Chinese and international Russian scholars but also laid a solid academic foundation for the cross-curricular Years of Education, which will be held in Russia and China in 2026-2027.

The event was jointly organized by the Russian Language Teaching Commission of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, the Russian Language Teaching Research Department of the Chinese Society for Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies, MSU-PPI Shenzhen University, Liaoning Normal University, and Dalian University of Foreign Studies. -0-
