KINSHASA, November 17 (Xinhua) — At least 32 people were killed when a bridge collapsed in a copper mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), local authorities said on Sunday.
The bodies of 32 people killed in the collapse that occurred Saturday at the Kalando mine in the southern province of Lualaba have been recovered, according to provincial Interior Minister Roy Kaumba Mayonde.
The minister noted that despite “a strict ban on access to the site due to heavy rains and the risk of landslides,” excavators entered the quarry area. –0–
