Hanoi, November 14 (Xinhua) — A landslide in the central Vietnamese city of Da Nang on Friday left three people missing, and search and rescue efforts are underway, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
Three people were working in a field on Friday morning when a landslide occurred. All three are still missing.
The landslide was caused by a large volume of soil and rocks from a hill in Hung Son commune, combined with groundwater that had accumulated over a long period of time.
According to local newspaper Tien Phong, an entire section of a hill collapsed, burying about five farmhouses and damaging more than 200 meters of road.
According to local authorities, prolonged rains and floods since the end of September have caused landslides in many areas of the commune.
Families in high-risk areas were relocated to minimize potential losses. –0–
