Beijing, November 14 (Xinhua) — China will never compromise or yield on issues concerning its core interests, such as national sovereignty and territorial integrity. Any force that dares to impede China's reunification is doomed to failure, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated at a ministry press conference on Friday.

Lin Jian made these statements after Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong summoned Japanese Ambassador to China Kenji Kanasugi on Thursday and made serious representations in connection with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's provocative remarks regarding Taiwan, hinting at the possibility of military intervention in the Taiwan Strait.

According to Lin Jian, the root cause of the problem lies in Sanae Takaichi's "extremely wrongful, dangerous and provocative statements regarding Taiwan and her unwillingness to correct and retract her statements."

“This is a gross interference in China’s internal affairs, violates international law and the basic norms of international relations, and also damages the international order that emerged after World War II,” the official representative noted.

"This also runs counter to the one-China principle and the guiding spirit of the four Sino-Japanese political documents, undermines the political foundation of Sino-Japanese relations, and hurts the feelings of the Chinese people," he said.

“We also note that many politicians and visionaries in Japan have issued warnings and criticism regarding this,” Lin Jian added. –0–
