BEIJING, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) — Chinese Defense Ministry spokesperson Jiang Bin on Friday warned Japan of a "crushing defeat" if it dares to take risks on the Taiwan issue.

He made the statement at a press conference in response to journalists' requests to comment on Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's recent remarks that Japan's Self-Defense Forces could exercise their right to collective self-defense if mainland China uses military force against Taiwan.

"The Japanese leader's erroneous remarks regarding Taiwan constitute gross interference in China's internal affairs and a serious violation of the one-China principle, the spirit of the Four Political Documents between China and Japan, and the basic norms of international relations," Jiang Bin emphasized.

According to him, these statements challenge the post-war international order and send a profoundly wrong signal to forces advocating for "Taiwan independence." "Such statements are outrageous and have had profoundly negative consequences. They are extremely irresponsible and dangerous," Jiang Bin added.

He added that the Taiwan issue is an exclusively internal matter for China and does not allow any outside interference.

"If the Japanese side fails to learn from history and dares to take risks or even use force to interfere in the Taiwan issue, it will suffer a crushing defeat at the hands of the iron-willed People's Liberation Army (PLA) and pay a heavy price," the Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman stated. -0-
