JERUSALEM, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) — Israel said Friday it has found the body of a dead hostage, identified as Meni Godard, held by militants in the Gaza Strip.
After the identification process was completed, officials notified M. Godard's family that his remains had been returned for burial, the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement.
According to the Prime Minister's Office, M. Godard's body was handed over to the Red Cross in Gaza on Thursday evening and then transported to Israel, where forensic experts confirmed his identity.
M. Godard, 73, and his wife were killed outside their home in Kibbutz Be'eri during a Hamas attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023. His body was taken to Gaza. –0–
