BEIJING, November 14 (Xinhua) — The first freight train on the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan multimodal international freight transport route departed from Xi'an International Port in Northwest China's Shaanxi Province on Thursday, the Shaanxi Daily newspaper reported.
As reported, train number X9015, loaded with 45 containers of auto parts, will arrive at the northern railway station in the city of Kashgar in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (northwest China). The cargo will then be transported to the Uzbek city of Jizzakh by road, crossing the state border through the Irkeshtam border crossing in Xinjiang.
The delivery time for these goods is expected to be 20 days in total, which is 4-5 days shorter than previous transportation methods.
According to the Xi'an branch of China State Railway Corporation, the launch of multimodal freight transport between China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan via rail and road reduces logistics costs for foreign trade companies and stimulates trade and economic exchanges between Shaanxi Province and Central Asia.
The successful departure of the first train laid a solid foundation for the operation of similar trains on a large-scale and regular basis in the future, the company added. -0-
