LONDON, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) — Chinese Ambassador to the United Kingdom Zheng Zeguang delivered a keynote speech at the China-Northern Ireland Economic, Trade and Investment Cooperation Forum in Belfast on Tuesday, calling for deeper cooperation to elevate economic and trade ties between the two sides to a higher level.
He stressed that China will continue to take economic development as its central task, pay special attention to promoting high-quality growth, and make new and important contributions to the development of the world economy.
China will resolutely advance high-standard opening-up, steadily expand institutional opening-up, and advance comprehensive trials and demonstrations of expanded service sector opening-up. Zheng Zeguang also noted that China's development will continue to infuse the world with confidence and positive energy.
The Ambassador praised the fruitful results achieved in recent years between China and Northern Ireland in the fields of economy, trade, investment, education, culture and tourism.
He called on Northern Irish people from all walks of life to seize the historic opportunities that will open up during China's 15th Five-Year Plan, which will emphasize innovation-led growth, expanding domestic demand, a green transition, and open cooperation.
He expressed hope that the business communities of both sides will deepen synergies between key industries, expand bilateral investment, promote communication, strengthen the foundation of friendship, and further leverage the potential of cooperation to elevate trade and economic ties to a higher level and bring greater benefits to the peoples of China and the UK.
