Tbilisi, November 13 (Xinhua) — Following a three-day search and rescue operation conducted jointly by relevant agencies of Georgia and Turkey, the bodies of all 20 people on board were recovered at the crash site of a Turkish military aircraft in Georgia's Sighnaghi Municipality. The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on Thursday.
According to the country's Minister of Internal Affairs, Geka Geladze, 19 bodies were delivered to the morgue yesterday, and another body was found on Thursday morning.
"Forensic experts and the investigative team continue to work at the scene. All technical equipment and aircraft fragments relevant to the investigation have been recovered and submitted for examination," the minister noted.
According to him, more than a thousand people participated in the rescue and investigation efforts, including personnel from the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs and Defense Forces, as well as representatives of Turkish agencies. Authorities from both countries are continuing a joint investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
According to available information, a Turkish military plane en route from Azerbaijan to Turkey crashed on Tuesday in the Sighnaghi municipality, approximately 5 km from the Georgian-Azerbaijani border. –0–
