Almaty, November 13 (Xinhua) — The unified interbank QR payment system has been officially launched in Kazakhstan. This was reported by the Kazinform news agency on Thursday, citing Timur Suleimenov, Chairman of the National Bank of Kazakhstan (Central Bank).

The launch was announced at a press conference during the Central Asia Fintech Summit in Almaty.

Zhanar Samayeva, Chairperson of the Board of the National Payment Corporation of Kazakhstan, announced that the interbank QR code was launched in pilot mode last month. The system is already available, with six banks connected, and three more expected to join by the end of the year. The service is planned to be rolled out in all regions and at all retail outlets across the country by 2026.
