Beijing, November 12 (Xinhua) — In the first ten months of 2025, the ASEAN region remained the largest trading partner for the economically advanced province of Guangdong in southern China, while the province's trade with emerging commodity markets such as the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia experienced much faster, double-digit growth, according to the latest data from the Guangdong branch of the General Administration of Customs.
According to customs data cited by the news portal chinanews.com.cn, Guangdong Province's foreign trade turnover with five Central Asian countries increased by 24.9 percent from January to October of this year compared to the same period last year.
The data also showed that Guangdong Province's export and import volume totaled 7.8 trillion yuan (about 1.1 trillion U.S. dollars) during the reporting period, up 3.7 percent year-on-year, with exports totaling 4.98 trillion yuan (up 1.7 percent) and imports totaling 2.82 trillion yuan (up 7.5 percent).
A breakdown by type of foreign traded goods shows that electromechanical products accounted for 68.4 percent of Guangdong Province's total exports from January to October, reaching 3.41 trillion yuan, up 6.7 percent year-on-year. Among import items, double-digit growth was recorded for integrated circuits, grains, aquatic products, dairy products, and edible oil, among others.
