Tashkent, November 12 (Xinhua) — Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation, the Uzbek president's press service reported on Tuesday.
“On November 11, a telephone conversation took place between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin,” the statement said.
The parties reportedly discussed current issues related to the further development and strengthening of Uzbek-Russian relations of comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance in the context of the practical implementation of agreements reached at the highest level.
It is noted that special attention was paid to maintaining the growth dynamics of trade turnover, promoting cooperation in priority economic sectors, including joint energy projects, expanding business cooperation between regions, and cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
"The fruitful results of the second meeting of the Council of Regions of Uzbekistan and Russia, held on October 22 of this year in the Moscow Region, were noted with satisfaction. The importance of successfully holding the next meeting of the Uzbek-Russian Intergovernmental Commission and the joint business forum scheduled for December 3 was emphasized," the statement reads.
