Moscow, November 12 (Xinhua) — Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation and exchanged views on current bilateral and regional issues, according to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry published on Wednesday.

"The ministers welcomed the agreement reached between Kabul and Islamabad, brokered by the authorities of Qatar and Turkey, on a mutual ceasefire and ceasefire in the Afghan-Pakistani border area. They called for continued dialogue between the two friendly states to resolve differences through political and diplomatic means in the interests of ensuring regional stability and security," the statement reads.

It is noted that the heads of the two countries' diplomatic departments also discussed developments in the Middle East, primarily in the Palestinian-Israeli settlement and the consideration of this issue in the UN Security Council, "as well as the situation on the IAEA Board of Governors, where France, Britain, and Germany are attempting to unleash an anti-Iranian campaign."

The ministers also touched on several aspects of bilateral relations. They reaffirmed their commitment to the unconditional implementation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between Russia and Iran, which entered into force on October 2. –0–
