Beijing, November 12 (Xinhua) — A ceremony was held at the Sichuan Institute of Arts (SIA) on Tuesday to celebrate the opening of the China-Russia Center for Innovation in Art Education and to award Vasily Zurabovich Tsereteli, President of the Russian Academy of Arts (RAA), the title of Honorary Professor of the SIA. This was reported on the SIA's official website.

At the ceremony, Jiao Xingtao, Director of the Sichuan Institute of Arts, and V. Tsereteli signed a cooperation agreement to establish a Chinese-Russian Center for Innovation in Art Education. Jiao Xingtao also presented V. Tsereteli with a diploma as an honorary professor of the Sichuan Institute of Arts.

According to Jiao Xingtao, the establishment of this center is aimed at comprehensively deepening and expanding exchanges and cooperation between China and Russia in the field of contemporary art and jointly promoting the prosperity and development of the art spheres of the two countries.

He added that the center will focus on such key areas as promoting intercultural artistic creativity, facilitating the exchange of artistic achievements between the two sides through regularly holding Sino-Russian academic forums and jointly organizing high-level exhibitions, and establishing a joint system for cultivating international talents through cooperation in academic mobility, joint teaching, and scientific research.

V. Tsereteli noted that the establishment of the China-Russia Center for Art Education Innovation has opened up a broader space for cultural and artistic exchanges between the two countries. He hopes that this platform will elevate cultural and artistic cooperation between the two countries to a higher level, leading to more works by Russian artists being presented in China, and more outstanding Chinese works of art appearing and being distributed in Russia.

It should be noted that in recent years, the Sichuan Institute of Arts has maintained close contacts with Russian educational and research institutions in the field of art, such as the Russian Academy of Arts, the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts named after I. Repin, and the Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after V. I. Surikov. -0-
