Vladivostok, November 10 /Xinhua/ — An avalanche hazard has been issued in Kamchatka. The Kamchatka Regional Avalanche Center is forecasting the possibility of snow avalanches in the Yelizovsky, Bystrinsky, Milkovsky, and Ust-Kamchatsky districts, KamchatkaMedia reported, citing the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for Kamchatka Krai.

Avalanches are possible from November 11th to 13th. Rescuers recommend avoiding travel to mountainous areas of the Yelizovsky Municipal District (especially the Paratunka River basin), the Ust-Bolsheretsky, Milkovsky, Bystrinsky, and Ust-Kamchatsky Municipal Districts, and the Vilyuchinsky, Kozelsky, Koryaksky, and Avachinsky volcanoes.

Avalanche danger has also been declared in the Kronotsky Nature Reserve and the Klyuchevskaya group of volcanoes.

The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations strongly recommends that parents monitor their children's whereabouts and educate them about the dangers of playing at the foot of the hills.

Another strong cyclone is approaching the coast of Kamchatka. Forecasters predict that the weather will worsen on November 11. Heavy snowfall and blizzards are expected, with snow turning to rain in coastal areas. Wet snow accumulation is expected in mountainous and foothill areas. Icy roads are possible. Winds are forecast to reach 25-30 meters per second in coastal areas, and 30-35 meters per second in the far south.
