Tbilisi, November 10 (Xinhua) — Georgia recorded an increase in maritime transport indicators in the first nine months of 2025, with both the number of vessels calling at the country's ports and the volume of cargo handled increasing, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia reported on Monday.

According to the agency, from January to September of this year, the number of vessels calling at the port of Batumi increased by 17 percent year-on-year, while those calling at the port of Poti increased by 5 percent. The tonnage of vessels calling at Batumi increased by 19 percent and at Poti by 8 percent.

According to the Ministry, approximately 566,600 TEU of cargo were handled at Georgian ports during the reporting period, which is approximately 20 percent more than in the same period in 2024. General cargo volumes increased by 13 percent.

As Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Tamar Ioseliani noted, the positive dynamics in maritime logistics reflect the active development of port infrastructure and the country's growing role as a transport hub in the Black Sea region. –0–
