BEIJING, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) — China aims to promote high-quality economic development by developing new application scenarios for new technologies and products, aiming for their large-scale industrial use and accelerating the development of emerging industries.

As Li Chunlin, deputy head of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), announced at a briefing on Monday, application scenarios are becoming a key resource for innovation. He defined the term "scenario" as a bridge connecting technology and industry, as well as linking research and development to the market.

The briefing, attended by representatives from a number of government agencies, followed the publication of a relevant policy document by the General Office of the State Council last week.

According to the Deputy Head of the State Committee for Development and Reconstruction and Development, the directive provides for the development and implementation of new application scenarios in five key areas: the digital economy and artificial intelligence; industrial transformation and modernization in manufacturing and transport; mining and emergency response; social services; and public welfare.

Li Chunlin noted that the implementation of the above measures will provide private capital and private enterprises with the opportunity to participate in the development of application scenarios. Furthermore, the central government will provide financial support for relevant infrastructure projects implementing key application scenarios.

Yao Jun, a representative of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China, in turn, indicated that his department attaches great importance to the development of application scenarios and intends to accelerate it in a wide range of areas, using 5G technologies, artificial intelligence, robotics, the industrial internet, and the Beidou navigation satellite system. –0–
