Beijing, November 10 (Xinhua) — China hopes the United States will work with China to protect a fair competitive environment in international shipping and shipbuilding markets, a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said on Monday.
Commenting on the US decision to suspend for one year the measures taken against China's maritime, logistics and shipbuilding sectors following an investigation under Section 301 of the US Trade Act, the official said that this will provide more certainty and stability to China-US trade and economic cooperation and the global economy.
On the same day, China suspended the retaliatory measures it took last month for one year.
As the Ministry of Commerce indicated, both sides have taken important steps to meet each other halfway and work together to implement the consensus reached between China and the United States during the trade and economic consultations in Kuala Lumpur.
The official representative emphasized that China is ready to communicate and consult with the United States on relevant issues, based on the principles of mutual respect and consultation on an equal basis. –0–
