BEIJING, November 10 (Xinhua) — China and Central Asia will explore cooperation opportunities in industrialization, digitalization, and green transformation of the construction industry, the Ministry of Housing, Urban-Rural Development said on Sunday.
According to the agency, the China-Central Asia Construction Ministers' Meeting 2025 was recently held in Beijing. Construction ministers and departmental representatives from China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan discussed strengthening practical cooperation and jointly promoting high-quality development in housing construction, as well as urban and rural development.
Following the meeting, the Beijing Initiative was adopted and an important consensus was reached on the construction of safe, comfortable, green, and smart "beautiful homes," promoting the construction of new cities and new districts and urban renewal, as well as exploring opportunities for cooperation in industrialization, digitalization, and the green transformation of the construction industry.
The relevant person in charge of the above-mentioned Chinese ministry put forward the following four proposals for deepening cooperation between China and Central Asia in the fields of housing, urban and rural construction:
Firstly, it is necessary to establish a regular communication and coordination mechanism, hold regular seminars, exchanges and trainings on housing and urban development issues, and create a platform and provide channels for problem-solving cooperation between the parties.
Secondly, it is important to strengthen cooperation in the field of engineering construction standardization, promote mutual borrowing and integration of engineering construction standards, jointly establish engineering laboratories and other technical platforms, and continuously study and overcome engineering and technical difficulties.
Third, we should explore the possibilities of cooperation in the development and construction of new cities and new areas, make full use of China's experience in planning, construction and management, and carry out practical cooperation with the five Central Asian countries in the development and construction of new cities and new areas.
Fourth, it is necessary to strengthen cooperation in the field of global human environment governance within the UN, actively respond to UN calls, participate in events dedicated to World Cities Day and in the World Urban Award program, and jointly promote the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the New Urban Agenda, the Global Development Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative. -0-
