BEIJING, November 10 (Xinhua) — China produced 271.78 tons of gold in the first nine months of 2025, up 1.39 percent year-on-year, according to data from the China Gold Association (CGA).
During the reporting period, gold consumption in China amounted to 682.73 tons, which is 7.95 percent less than a year earlier, the KOZ noted.
In particular, gold jewelry consumption in the Chinese market fell by 32.5 percent year-on-year to 270.04 tons, while consumption of gold bars and coins increased by 24.55 percent year-on-year to 352.12 tons, and gold consumption in industrial production and other areas increased by 2.72 percent to about 60.58 tons.
The aforementioned association noted that the performance of various gold product segments varied significantly during this period. Lightweight and high-value-added jewelry retained relatively strong market appeal and demonstrated strong sales, demand for bullion remained robust, and the escalation of geopolitical conflicts and economic uncertainty strengthened gold's role as a safe haven asset.
At the same time, the rapid development of industries such as electronics and new energy sources contributed to the growth of industrial demand for gold, the KAZ added.
In addition, gold exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the Chinese market demonstrated strong growth rates in January-September of this year. -0-
