BEIJING, November 9 (Xinhua) — Yabuli Ski Resort, considered the birthplace of mass skiing in China, officially opened for the winter season.
Yabuli is located in the western foothills of the central Zhangguangcai Mountains of the Changbai Mountain Range. It is known as the "Snow Gate of China" because snow lies in this area for up to 170 days a year.
During the 9th Asian Winter Games, ice competitions were held in Harbin (the capital of Heilongjiang Province, Northeast China), and snow competitions were held in the village of Yabuli, which is located approximately 200 kilometers from Harbin.
As the cradle of competitive skiing in China and the birthplace of mass skiing, Yabuli offers a wide variety of trails. As the largest national winter sports training center in the country, Yabuli has also hosted numerous athletes who trained there. -0-
