Yaounde, November 7 (Xinhua) — Cameroon President Paul Biya was sworn in for a new seven-year term on Thursday.
In the presidential election held on October 12, 92-year-old P. Biya received 53.66% of the vote. He has been in power since 1982 and leads the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement. He was sworn in before the Speaker of the National Assembly (lower house of parliament), Djibril Kavaye Yeguie, at a ceremony in the capital, Yaoundé. This is his eighth presidential term.
