Beijing, November 7 (Xinhua) — The 12th China-Central Asia Cooperation Forum was held in Urumqi, capital of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, where in-depth discussions on educational partnerships were held. The event aimed to promote practical educational cooperation between China and Central Asian countries to strengthen mutual understanding and promote joint development.
Beijing International Studies University (BISU) has already launched courses in Kazakh, Uzbek, Kyrgyz, Tajik, and Turkmen—the official languages of Central Asian countries. In recent years, BISU has been actively expanding cooperation with universities, think tanks, and research institutions in the region by deepening educational exchanges, creating an educational community within the Belt and Road Initiative, developing academic exchanges, and publishing research papers. This contributes to the training of highly qualified personnel and the digital transformation of education, stated BISU Party Committee Chairman Wang Dinghua.
Joint projects, including the establishment of overseas branches, specialized institutes, and Lu Ban Workshops, demonstrate the extensive cooperation between China and Uzbekistan in the field of education, noted participants from Uzbekistan.
Representatives of Turkmenistan, in turn, also emphasized the significant progress in cooperation with China in the scientific and educational spheres, noting that in recent years, many universities and schools in Turkmenistan have begun teaching Chinese, and their teachers regularly undergo internships in China, which reflects, in particular, the growing interest of the Turkmen academic community in Chinese culture. -0-
