BEIJING, November 7 (Xinhua) — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili in Beijing on Friday.

Wang Yi, also a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, stated that China has always viewed and developed relations with Georgia from a strategic perspective and with a long-term perspective. China is ready to work with Georgia to strengthen strategic mutual trust, continue the traditional friendship, and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation to promote the further development of bilateral relations, he added.

The Chinese Foreign Minister noted that China will advance a broader agenda of opening up in more areas and at a deeper level. He expressed China's readiness to strengthen strategic ties with Georgia, unlock the potential for cooperation, and expand interaction in areas such as economics, trade, connectivity, and cultural and humanitarian exchanges. China also intends to advance high-quality cooperation within the framework of the joint development of the Belt and Road Initiative, taking it to a deeper and more substantive level, he emphasized.

According to Wang Yi, China is ready to work with Georgia to promote the implementation of the Global Governance Initiative and better protect the legitimate rights and interests of countries in the Global South, as well as the common interests of the international community. The Chinese diplomat also invited Georgia to join the International Mediation Organization.

M. Bochorishvili, for her part, stated that Georgia attaches great importance to the development of relations with China and expects them to further improve.

She noted that Georgia will continue to actively participate in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and deepen practical cooperation with China. She added that Georgia hopes to expedite the implementation of the updated version of the bilateral free trade agreement and for more Georgian products to enter the Chinese market.
