SANYA, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday stressed the need to build the Hainan Free Trade Port (HFTP) based on high standards.
Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks while hearing a report on the construction of the HPS in Sanya, southern China's Hainan Province.
Xi Jinping noted that the construction of the HPS is an important decision of the CPC Central Committee aimed at comprehensively deepening reform and opening up in the new era.
He stressed the importance of carefully studying and implementing the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, calling for the full achievement of the goals of building the HSCT through close coordination, proactive action and sustained efforts.
On December 18, 2025, the HSCT construction program will formally launch the island-wide independent customs operation regime, which Xi Jinping said is a landmark step by China to steadily expand high-level opening-up and promote the development of an open world economy. -0-
