Los Angeles, November 5 (Xinhua) — U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday re-nominated billionaire astronaut Jared Isaacman as his candidate to head the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
“Jared’s passion for space, his experience as an astronaut, and his drive to push the boundaries of exploration, unlock the mysteries of the universe, and develop a new space economy make him the perfect candidate to lead NASA into a fundamentally new era,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
J. Isaacman was initially nominated for the post last December, but the nomination was withdrawn in May due to concerns about his previous donations to Democrats and close ties to SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, who left the White House just days earlier.
J. Isaacman said he is ready to become the head of NASA and lead a new era of space exploration, including flights to the Moon and beyond.
The billionaire's nomination must be confirmed by the US Senate.
