Beijing, November 5 (Xinhua) — On November 1, North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region launched a tax refund service for foreign nationals exiting China. The Neimenggu Ribao daily reported this on Tuesday, citing information from the region's Bureau of Commerce.

To date, special points for providing this service have been established at Baita International Airport in Hohhot, Xijiao International Airport in Manzhouli, and Saiusu International Airport in Ereenhot, as well as at the Manzhouli and Ereenhot road checkpoints.

The exit tax refund policy provides for a refund of value added tax (VAT) on eligible goods purchased by overseas individuals from eligible stores upon their exit from China.

Currently, the Bank of China branch in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region serves as the agency implementing the aforementioned policy in Inner Mongolia. Seven stores have been registered in the region implementing this policy initiative, including Wangfujing Outlet Trading Company in Hohhot, Yuyi Trading Company (Friendship) in Manzhouli, and Longyuan Trading Company in Ereen.

A senior official from the District Commerce Office noted that the launch of the VAT refund service for foreigners leaving China in Inner Mongolia is a practical step by local authorities to actively implement the country's policy of expanding domestic demand and stimulating consumption. Providing this service will attract more foreign tourists to Inner Mongolia and provide new impetus to regional economic growth, the official emphasized.
