Pyongyang, November 4 (Xinhua) — Former Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Yong Nam died of illness on Monday at the age of 97, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Tuesday.

Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and Chairman of State Affairs of the DPRK, personally visited the coffin of Kim Yong Nam at 1:00 a.m. local time on Tuesday to express his deep condolences over his death, KCNA reports.

As reported, the WPK Central Committee, the State Affairs Commission, the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, and the DPRK Cabinet decided to hold a state funeral for Kim Yong Nam. The national funeral committee included 100 people, including Kim Jong Un.

Kim Yong-nam's coffin will be open for condolences on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time, and the funeral will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, KCNA quoted the committee as saying. –0–
