BEIJING, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) — Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), met with participants of a seminar for lawmakers from Pacific island countries in Beijing on Tuesday.

Zhao Leji noted that China's relations with the Pacific island countries have maintained a favorable development momentum, and stressed that China has always been a trustworthy friend and reliable partner for these countries.

The Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee stated that China is ready to strengthen political mutual trust with the Pacific island countries, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, strengthen the alignment of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Blue Pacific Strategy 2050, and jointly implement the four major global initiatives.

Zhao Leji called on both sides to strengthen exchanges between legislative bodies at various levels and in various fields, deepen exchanges of experience in areas such as public administration, lawmaking and supervision, and ensure legal guarantees for bilateral cooperation.
