Beijing, November 4 (Xinhua) — China is ready to provide the assistance Afghanistan needs, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Tuesday after a 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck northern Afghanistan, killing at least 24 people.
A spokeswoman told a daily briefing that China was closely monitoring the situation surrounding the natural disaster in Afghanistan and deeply mourned the victims of the earthquake.
"We express our condolences to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to the injured. We believe that under the leadership of the Afghan government, the people of Afghanistan will be able to overcome the consequences of this natural disaster and rebuild their homes," said Mao Ning.
