Abidjan, November 4 (Xinhua) — Ivory Coast Constitutional Council President Chantal Camara officially declared incumbent President Alassane Ouattara the winner of the October 25 presidential election during a ceremony in the country's largest city, Abidjan, on Tuesday.

“Candidate Alassane Ouattara is declared elected President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire in the first round,” Camara said in a statement.

According to the Constitutional Council, A. Ouattara received 89.77% of the votes.

According to the country's Independent Electoral Commission, 3,759,030 votes out of 4,187,318 valid votes were cast for A. Ouattara. Turnout was 50.1 percent of the 8.7 million registered voters in Côte d'Ivoire and abroad.

Ouattara, 83, previously served as Governor of the Central Bank of West Africa and Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund. He served as Prime Minister of Côte d'Ivoire from 1990 to 1993, winning the 2010 presidential election and officially assuming office the following year.
