Kabul, November 2 (Xinhua) — Three people, including a woman, were killed and five others, including four children and a woman, were injured when a truck overturned in Helmand Province in southern Afghanistan, local authorities said late Saturday.

The accident occurred when a truck carrying a family during a move overturned due to careless driving on the outskirts of the 10th police district of Lashkar Gah, the provincial capital, the provincial Department of Information and Culture said in a statement.

Earlier, three people were killed and 18 others were injured in a collision between a tractor and two passenger vehicles in the eastern province of Laghman on Wednesday.

Road accidents claim thousands of lives in Afghanistan every year, primarily due to reckless driving, poor road conditions, speeding, overloading, congested highways and a lack of proper road signs. –0–
