Cairo, November 2 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping's special envoy and Minister of Culture and Tourism Sun Yeli attended the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum on Saturday at the invitation of the Egyptian government.

Before the ceremony, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi met with Sun Yeli and held a short conversation with him.

Sun Yeli conveyed Xi Jinping's warm greetings and presented his congratulatory letter to the Egyptian President. He stated that Beijing attaches great importance to the development of China-Egypt relations and stands ready to work with Cairo to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, advance practical cooperation, and expand humanitarian and cultural exchanges to continually enrich the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

A.F. el-Sisi asked Sun Yeli to convey his sincere greetings to Xi Jinping and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chinese leader for his congratulatory letter on the occasion of the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum and for sending a special envoy to the opening ceremony.
