BEIJING, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping on Saturday sent a congratulatory message to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on the occasion of the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.
In his message, Xi Jinping expressed his sincere congratulations to A.F. el-Sisi and the Egyptian people on the opening of the museum.
The Chinese leader expressed confidence that the Grand Egyptian Museum will leave a deep mark on Egypt's cultural history and play an important role in preserving and transmitting ancient Egyptian civilization from generation to generation.
He noted that China and Egypt have long-standing friendly relations, and their comprehensive strategic partnership has been developing rapidly in recent years.
According to the Chinese President, the two countries have established active and diverse humanitarian and cultural exchanges. The Shanghai Museum successfully hosted a major exhibition dedicated to ancient Egyptian civilization, and a joint Chinese-Egyptian archaeological expedition is currently working beneath the pyramids of Saqqara, exploring the mysteries of ancient Egyptian civilization.
“It is gratifying to see how two ancient civilizations are drawn to each other, and how the two peoples are becoming ever closer through mutual understanding and friendship,” Xi Jinping noted.
The modern world is experiencing changes unseen in the last century. China and Egypt, two ancient civilizations, must continue to deepen exchanges and mutual learning between civilizations, inject new impetus into their comprehensive strategic partnership, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for humanity, the Chinese leader added.
