MEXICO CITY, November 2 (Xinhua) — At least 22 people were killed in an explosion caused by a fire at a department store in Hermosillo, northern Mexico, local media reported on Saturday.
An explosion reportedly occurred in the afternoon at a department store in the city center. Witnesses said the fire quickly spread throughout the building and nearby vehicles, trapping several people inside.
Rescuers arrived at the scene to conduct search and rescue operations and transport the victims to local hospitals.
According to a preliminary investigation, a faulty transformer could have caused the fire.
