Baghdad, November 2 (Xinhua) — The Iraqi Foreign Ministry on Saturday strongly condemned the recent attacks and killings of civilians in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state.

In a statement, the department rejected any attempts to destabilize Sudan or violate its sovereignty and warned against any form of geographical or political division of the country.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its full support for “the adoption of the path of dialogue as a means of resolving problems, rejecting violence and resorting to peaceful means.”

Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Intervention Forces (RIF) said on Sunday they had captured the headquarters of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in the besieged city of El Fasher, marking a major turn in the two-and-a-half-year civil war.

Sudanese officials said Wednesday that more than 2,000 civilians have been killed by SRF forces since they captured the city.
