Beijing, November 1 (Xinhua) — China will mark the 160th anniversary of the birth of Sun Yat-sen, a great national hero, patriot, and pioneer of the Chinese democratic revolution.
The decision was made on Saturday at the 14th session of the Bureau of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
The document released following the session stated that November 12, 2026, will mark the 160th anniversary of Sun Yat-sen's birth, and major celebrations will be held to mark the occasion.
The celebrations are held to honor Sun Yat-sen's immortal contributions to national independence, social progress and the people's well-being, and to consolidate and strengthen the great unity of all Chinese sons and daughters at home and abroad.
As noted in the decision, this is also aimed at promoting the peaceful development of relations between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait and the great cause of national reunification, as well as uniting the forces of the entire Chinese nation to build a strong country and achieve national rejuvenation through Chinese-style modernization. –0–
