Beijing, October 31 (Xinhua) — China is making every effort to promote the scale and high-quality development of renewable energy sources, the National Energy Administration announced at a press conference on Friday.
As noted, in the first three quarters of 2025, China's installed renewable energy capacity grew by 47.7 percent year-on-year, reaching 310 million kW.
This figure amounted to 84.4 percent of the total volume of new installed power generating capacity in the country.
According to the agency, the total capacity of new hydropower, wind power, photovoltaic power, and biomass power generation facilities amounted to 7.16 million kW, 61.09 million kW, 240 million kW, and 1.05 million kW, respectively.
This capacity expansion has provided strong support for China's electricity supply, and in the first three quarters, total renewable electricity generation reached 2.89 trillion kWh, up 15.5 percent year-on-year and accounting for approximately 40 percent of China's total electricity generation.
The department also added that investment in the energy sector continues to grow rapidly. In the first eight months, the volume of completed investments in key energy projects exceeded 1.97 trillion yuan (approximately $277.9 billion), an increase of 18.2 percent year-on-year.
