CHANGCHUN, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) — On Thursday, October 30, FAW-Volkswagen, a joint venture between China's FAW Group and Germany's Volkswagen, rolled off the production line at its 30-millionth vehicle in Changchun, northeast China's Jilin Province. FAW-Volkswagen became the first automaker in China to reach the 30-million-unit mark in passenger car production and sales.

The 30 millionth FAW-Volkswagen vehicle, an Audi A5L sedan, was unveiled Thursday evening at a ceremony to mark the occasion.

In his speech, Fu Bingfeng, Executive Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAA), noted that FAW-Volkswagen's growth trajectory is highly consistent with the rise of the Chinese automobile industry, demonstrating that the path to industrial progress lies through openness and cooperation.

The production of FAW-Volkswagen's 30 millionth vehicle clearly demonstrates the vitality of the country's openness to the outside world, as well as China's unique advantages as a super-sized market, agreed FAW Group Chairman Qiu Xiandong.

"This is undoubtedly an exceptional and significant moment for us," said Ralf Brandstätter, Chairman and CEO of Volkswagen Group China. He added that Volkswagen will continue to serve as an important hub for cooperation between Germany and China.

The joint venture “FAW-Volkswagen” was created in 1991. Currently, the company produces more than 30 models of passenger cars under three brands: Volkswagen, Audi and Jetta. -0-
