KUALA LUMPUR, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) — Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun met with his U.S. counterpart Pete Hegseth here on Friday at the 12th ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus).
Dong Jun said that Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump held a successful meeting in the Republic of Korea, which set strategic guidelines for the sustainable development of the next stage of China-US relations.
He noted that the defense ministries of both countries must take concrete actions to implement the consensus reached by the heads of state and work to build inter-military relations based on equality and respect, peaceful coexistence, and stable and positive development.
The minister expressed hope that the American side will fulfill its commitment not to try to contain China or provoke conflict, will take a clear stance against “Taiwan independence,” and will cooperate with China to make a positive contribution to ensuring peace and security in the region and throughout the world. –0–
