Beijing, October 30 (Xinhua) — The People's Liberation Army (PLA) will deploy more powerful capabilities and more reliable means to thwart any attempts at "Taiwan independence" and external interference, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesperson Zhang Xiaogang announced Thursday.
He made the statement while commenting on reports that the US and Taiwan recently held a so-called defense industry meeting to discuss joint weapons development and production, as well as US arms sales to the island.
According to Zhang Xiaogang, no matter how many more weapons Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) administration purchases, the military balance between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait will remain unchanged, and the pursuit of "Taiwan independence" will remain a doomed endeavor.
