SHANGHAI, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) — Volunteers for the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) took their oaths and began their duties in Shanghai, east China, on Wednesday.
Among them are 129 volunteers who will provide services in more than ten foreign languages in addition to English, in particular, Russian, German, French, Spanish, Arabic, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, etc.
The 8th CIIE will be held from November 5 to 10 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. All volunteers participating in this year's event have already completed the necessary pre-training, fully understood the service procedures, and are familiar with their duties.
According to the Shanghai Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, a total of 34,000 volunteers participated in volunteer activities during the seven previous CIIEs. 3,865 volunteers have been recruited for the upcoming CIIE, providing services such as on-site consultation and navigation, registration management, public relations support, transaction statistics, and medical assistance.
